The associate will report to the Senior Analyst and will be primarily responsible for modeling, talking with covered companies and industry contacts, conducting fundamental research and note and report writing. As the associate develops, responsibilities will expand to include communicating with clients and sales/traders, and participating in the creative process. There is the ability to grow into a senior analyst position over the next several years for the right, motivated associate.

 

Qualifications:

Strong writing, modeling, excel and power point skills required.  At least 1 year of sell-side research experience is required, and a background in transports or industrial research is preferable.

Job Description:

Wolfe Research is seeking junior associate to back-up seasoned top ranked Senior Analyst in all facets of his business. The junior associate will report to the Senior Analyst and will be responsible for modeling, note writing, and as he/she develops in communicating with clients and sales/traders, and participating in the creative process. Job Description
Wolfe Research is seeking an associate to back-up a Senior Analyst in all facets of his business. This team member must have strong domain knowledge, relationships and preferably experience working for a consulting firm or within the Managed Care, Hospital or HC Facility. They will serve as lead on many projects and must have the ability to maintain current knowledge in in the field and build relationships to broaden knowledge base over time and develop deep expertise in key segments of the marketplace. The associate will report to the Senior Analyst and will collaborate with a team of 3 associates in all aspects of the Senior Analyst’s franchise including: modeling, note writing, and as he/she develops in communicating with clients and sales/traders, and participating in the creative process. Strong writing skills required. Experience in equity research, investment banking or specific industry knowledge in the Health Care sector is highly desirable. As the associate develops, responsibilities will expand to include communicating with clients and sales/traders, and participating in the creative process. Qualifications/Responsibilities (all below are required)
Demonstrated ability to generate ideas: work closely and communicate effectively in a time sensitive environment, ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines, strong organizational skills, client service minded, strong writing skills and possess common sense.
Creative thinker with strong problem solving skills, working with large data sets in excel/Access, and ability to source and process information independently.
Technical skills include Strong knowledge of HC economics required, Intermediate excel and PowerPoint, basic statistics (regression, variance, covariance and correlations).
Understanding of markets: both macro and micro to understand trends impacting the HC industry, Government Policies, Reimbursement, and at the industry level supply and demand dynamics/pricing.
Financial modeling and Accounting knowledge: Working knowledge of the 3 key accounting statements, intermediate modeling skills required.
Advanced publishing knowledge: must know how to use databases, format data, using MS Office suite.
Financial theory: ability to perform historical and relative valuation analysis and DCF valuation.

 

Experience
2+ years of experience in the Health Care industry or equivalent required.
1-2 years of Buy-side or sell-side research experience is desirable.

 

Education
BA required concentration in finance, hard science or advanced math desirable.

Financial modeling: build integrated financial statements, utilize multiple valuation methodologies, analyze and construct key aspects of capital structure (cash flow waterfall or debt service schedule).
Accounting knowledge: GAAP requirements, expense accruals, ability to model/forecast fundamental data, outline sensitivities linked to key variables for scenarios and produce charts to illustrate
Use knowledge of advanced accounting principles: Familiarity with T charts, reason for deferred tax liabilities, contra assets/liabilities, etc.
Advanced publishing knowledge: must know how to use databases, format data, using MS Office suite.
Financial theory: ability to perform historical and relative valuation analysis and DCF valuation.

 

Experience
1-2 years of experience from an investment banking program or equivalent required.

Job Description:

The sales function provides the primary client interface for both research delivery and revenue generation. Heavy outbound call volumes, frequent client meetings / presentations and travel are the norm. The sales position requires command of a complex and extensive research product line and the ability to distill the material for use by highly sophisticated institutional investors.

 

Qualifications:

Qualifications include demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication, as well as in personal presentation. Further, a clear track record of drive and high achievement in prior activities, including academics, is essential. Strong general knowledge of markets, valuation of equity securities and the institutional equity marketplace are important. Coursework should include some combination of economics and finance. At least one course in financial accounting and the ability to understand corporate financial statements are required.   Two years of successful post-college employment are the minimum, but we are open to individuals seeking their first Wall Street position. An MBA / CFA is desirable. A strong desire to become a leading client-facing and revenue generating professional is critical to success. The position requires a significant investment of time, focus and effort. The firm will provide training as appropriate. Starting compensation is based on experience and upside will be performance based.
